About the release

This was the second album released by Cotetco. Some tracks were started in 2019, but most of the work was done in 2020.

To me, it feels quite different from the first album. When I listened to it as a whole for the first time, it reminded me of early 2000s media — not for any specific reason, just something about the sound. It wasn’t intentional, but it brought up that kind of atmosphere. Maybe it's just a sense of nostalgia for a time that doesn’t seem that long ago, even though it's been a couple of decades.

2020 was during the lockdown. I spent a lot of time outside then, usually by the water, keeping distance from people with my family. That’s where the title By The Sea came from — it felt like the right way to describe that period.
